A common Outlook issue: not being able to open Word and Excel attachments. There is actually a very simple answer. Many people make the mistake of uninstalling and reinstalling Office because Excel/Word will not open. In fact the solution is as simple as creating a temp folder. Briefly:

In Outlook 2003 and 2007

1. Click My Computer and then double-click the C drive.

2. On the File menu click New and then Folder.

3. Name the folder temp0.

4. Click Start, click Run, type regedit and click OK.

5. Find and click the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Security\

6. In the right pane double-click OutlookSecureTempFolder.

7. In the Value data field enter C:\temp0\ and click OK.

8. Exit the Registry Editor.

9. Restart the computer..
