If the Synology NAS is behind a firewall, allow access to the external IP of the device to be backed up (if firewall present).

Install Active Backup for Business on the Synology NAS appropriate to your device model.

For PC/Server backup, go to download.synology.com and install Active Backup for Business Agent and Synology Active Backup Recovery Media Creator.

From the Synology NAS Control Panel a user can be created for the backup task and assigned to the task.

Install the Active Backup Agent on the device to be backed up, enter the NAS IP, and start it.

After installing the Agent, the device appears in the PC/Server section.

After adding the device, create a backup task.

Select the storage area where files will be backed up.

Select the backup time window.

Create the retention policy for backup versions and storage area.

Review the task summary and finish.

After installation, the backup starts according to the schedule.

It is monitored locally via the Active Backup Agent.
