PPTP cannot be enabled from the web UI, so we use the CLI console.

After connecting to your Fortinet device, follow the steps in order.

– Create a local user. Example: vpnuser

– Create a local group and add the users to it. Example: pptp_vpn_gr

– Under firewall » address create a new record named pptpvpnad with IP 172.20.10.0/24 and any

– From the CLI Console:

config vpn pptp
set status enable
set ip-mode range
set sip 172.20.10.1
set eip 172.20.10.254
set usrgrp pptpvpnad
end

– A policy must be written: wan1 pptpvpnad internal all log allowed traffic selected

– If you want VPN clients to also reach the internet, write another policy wan1 to wan1 with NAT enabled.
