In this scenario we integrate our Fortigate firewall into a system with multiple VLANs.

Example: Fortigate internal IP 10.1.100.253/24

Backbone switch IP 10.1.100.254
vlan 1 10.1.1.254/24

vlan 2 10.1.2.254/24
vlan 3 10.1.3.254/24

All user requests reach their VLAN switch and are forwarded to the backbone, which forwards them to the Fortigate firewall.

All VLANs reach the internet via the Fortigate, with the desired restrictions.
