VMware vSphere password reset
Let’s see how to reset the vSphere client password. Our VM version is 5.5; for older versions directory paths may differ.
On the machine where VM SSO is installed, go to the directory below and run the listed tool.
c:\>cd Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\VMware\CIS\vmdird
When the tool runs, the menu below appears:
Please select:
0. exit
1. Test LDAP connectivity
2. Force start replication cycle
3. Reset account password
4. Set log level and mask
5. Set vmdir state
===============================
Choose option 3 (reset password).
You will be asked for SSO user info. If SSO was installed with defaults, enter:
“cn=Administrator,cn=users,dc=vSphere,dc=local”
The tool generates an automatic password. Since you are in DOS mode, mark it with the right mouse button, copy with Enter, paste into vSphere client and you will be logged in.
